Call: IFLRY seeks Board of Editors for The Libel

Deadline: 24th of November for Chief Editor / Open for Editors

The Bureau of the International Federation of Liberal Youth is urgently looking for

  • a Chief Editor
  • several Editors

Who together will form Libel's Board of Editors. They will have to manage IFLRY's political magazine, the Libel, for the upcoming year. Five issues are annually distributed to every corner of the world, and there's also a special website available where the issues can be downloaded. For past issues (up to 2005), check http://www.thelibel.com/

The Board of Editors has a fairly independent position in IFLRY, as it can decide by itself on topics and themes of issues. All the financial aspects of the magazine, will however be coordinated with the Bureau. The Chief Editor's role is simply to make sure that the Board delivers on its task, and is directly responsible to the Bureau, with which she/he will regularly be in touch. The Editors are directly responsible for the content of the magazine, whether by writing articles themselves or by getting articles from individual members of IFLRY's Member Organizations.

We are looking for people that are very enthusiastic about politics, writing and liberalism. Are you willing to devote some of your time to spreading your and other people's views around the world? Then don't miss out on this opportunity, and get in touch with us directly!

As the job of Chief Editor will take more time and requires more responsibility, we would like you to indicate whether you'd like and be willing to take up that position, or that you prefer to work as Editor for the Libel. The IFLRY Bureau will appoint the Chief Editor on the basis of motivation and relevant experience.

Please submit a motivation letter (approx. 300 words) and a C.V. to IFLRY Secretary General Bart Woord (bart@iflry.org) before the 24th of November 2006 in case you want to run for Chief Editor. Applicants for the position of Editor are always welcomed-

If possible, the Chief Editor will be invited to our General Assembly in Andorra from the 14th to the 17th of December, including a partial reimbursement of the travel costs. This will however be a matter of decision between the IFLRY Bureau and the appointed Chief Editor.

For any questions, please get in touch with Bart Woord (bart@iflry.org).

Call: IFLRY seeks members for new Financial Committee

Deadline: Open

As probably every organisation, IFLRY is always in need for more financial resources, not only to cover its current expenditures, but also - and mainly! - for it to expand its work in spreading liberal values all over the world. A stronger financial position enables IFLRY to be, for example, of much more assistance to all those members battling undemocratic and illiberal regimes or influences. As well, more seminars and fact-finding missions can be set up, just as worldwide campaigns; all resulting in a more proactive and efficacious organisation.

On this worldwide level, there are many opportunities: encompassing so millions of young people from so many different countries, IFLRY has a strong appeal to democracy- and liberal-minded donors. Nonetheless, successful financial acquisition is a matter of experience, keenness and patience. Being a voluntary organisation, IFLRY has to rely on the willingness and the enthusiasm of individuals to dedicate some of their time and energy in helping out fundraising.

For this reason, the IFLRY bureau has decided to create an official Financial Committee, under the responsibility of Secretary General Bart Woord. This committee has as its initial objectives:

  • to outline the financial options available for IFLRY in terms of potential sponsors, like foundations, (governmental) institutions and (non-governmental) organisations;
  • to come up with any other new ideas, methods or opportunities for fundraising;
  • to write, and subsequently work out, an action plan that aims strengthening and diversifying IFLRY's finances;
  • on request, to assist other IFLRY working groups or committees in finding financial resources for their work.

If this work sounds interesting and like fun to you, if you have some experience in fundraising and if you are willing to dedicate (at least) one year to the work of this committee, please get in touch with Bart (bart@iflry.org - +31 (0) 615 624 560). Please attach your C.V. and write down your motivation for becoming member of the committee in not more than 200 words. For more information or any of your questions, don't hesitate to contact him as well!
