Increased repression against young liberals in Havana

The Havana delegate of CJM, Wilson Reina Cabrera, has been jailed by the Cuban authorities without reason since yesterday morning and nothing has been heard from him for the last ten hours. He is being held at the police station located between Aguila and Dragones.

The repression against CJM has severely increased during the last two weeks. Three other active members, Livan Ruiz Hernandez, Alexander Decon Perez and Belkis Nuñez Fajardo, and the president of the organisation as well were interrogated by the authorities between the 15th and the 20th of January. The interrogations took place in a police Unite in Havana, known as Section 21, for a duration of more than 10 hours individually. CJM members were questioned by several police officers through intimidation methods and not even a glass of water was provided during the prolonged verbal harassments.

CJM - Coalición Juvenil Martiana - is a Liberal youth organization in Cuba which reached observer status in IFLRY at the General Assembly in Andorra, December 2006.
