The French JRG (Jeunes Radicaux de Gacuhe / Left Young Radicals) greet the adoption of the prohibition of the death penalty in the French Constitution by the Congress on February 19th, with the quasi-unanimity of the deputies and the senators, nearly 26 years after its abolition at the legislative level.
The Radical Members of Parliament naturally weighed of all their humanism in this symbolic progression, which they wish universal. As Mr Jean-Michel Baylet, senator and President of the PRG, underlined, “this fight which is now achieved in France must be continued elsewhere, in the 69 countries which still apply this punishment!”
The JRG will be registered with determination in this universal objective, at the sides of the FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) and more particularly within the IFLRY (International Federation of Liberal Youth) which defends the launch of a moratorium at the UN General Assembly.
