With the help of Center for Civil Society and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, a group of CCS Alumni established the Liberal Youth Forum of India (LYF India, read as Life India). Gautam Bastian, a Koch alum, and D.Dhanuraj are part of the Preparatory Committee of LYF. LYF India will build on CCS youth network and establish nation wide chapters to help spread liberal ideas.
The Liberal Youth Forum (LYF-India) is a movement of young individuals, informal groups and formal associations collaborating to create access and choice in social, cultural, economic, political and environmental spheres for a freer and more prosperous India. On April 5th, 2008, the Liberal Youth Forum will formally announce its launch at Hotel Peninsula Grand, Andheri East, Mumbai, with help from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and Centre for Civil Society. At LYF-India launch, the elected members of its executive committee will be introduced, as well as providing details about its planned activities for the year, centered around mobilizing the youth at colleges/universities of India.
LYF-India believes in the power of human enterprise to overcome the shackles of poverty and to find full expression in a society founded on the principles of freedom and tolerance. They want to see an India in which all citizens are equal before the law and have the opportunity to pursue their own happiness. They dream of a society where competition is the fountainhead of choice and where the accident of birth is not a barrier to social or economic progress; where gender, caste, creed, race or region is no barrier to the brotherhood of mankind; where nations live in peace and borders do not matter. They commit themselves to the creation of a society where every citizen enjoys the basic human rights to property and livelihood, living life with dignity and personal responsibility. They believe that the youth of today can make this happen.
LYF-India has no political affiliations as an organization, and is currently operating with the support of the Friedrich Naumann - Stiftung für die Freiheit (a global non-profit organization that promotes liberal democracy, respect for human rights, rule of law and economic freedom) and the Center for Civil Society (an independent, non-profit, research and educational organization devoted to improving the quality of life for Indian citizens).
As LYF-India is going to be a network of liberal youth in India, it seeks support and look for networking opportunities with similar organizations across the globe.

The annual congress of the jungfreisinnige schweiz jfs was opened by Ignazio Cassis, MP of the (TI), Lena Schneller, president of the jfs as well as Krizia Genini, president of the jfs ticino branch. At the congress a new executive committee was elected. Lena Schneller (ZH) was unanimously re-elected as president, as the two vice-presidents Adrian Michel (TG) and Philippe Nantermod (VS) were confirmed in their office. Likewise Stefano Rizzi (TI), treasurer, was re-elected, as well as Juliette Hotz (BE) and Simon Berther (GR). Furthermore the congress elected Brenda Maeder (TG), Jenny Beeler (ZG) and Nicola Pini (TI) as new board members and Alain Schreiner (ZH) as new International Officer.
Particularly, the congress dealt with the forthcoming merger with the Youth section of the LPS (another liberal youth party established mainly in the french part of Switzerland). Thus the bylaws were altered as preparation for the merger, on which the jfs council of delegates will definitely decide on 12 April 2008. For a transition period of one year two representatives of the Young Liberals Switzerland will take a seat in the executive committee of the jungfreisinnige schweiz. The election of these two young liberals will take place on 12 April 2008 as well.
After the formal part of the congress a panel discussion under the provocative title "English, official national language of Switzerland?" took place. Under the direction of Stefano Rizzi and Nicola Pini Ignazio Cassis (MP), Gabriele Gendotti (member of the Cantonal government Ticino), Daniela Lepori (delegate of the jungfreisinnige ticino), Philippe Nantermod (vice-president of jungfreisinnige schweiz), Philip Kristensen (political secretary of the FDP Switzerland) as well as Patrizia Friedrich Pescetti (member of Helvetia Latina) held a discussion about the language diversity in Switzerland, the new proposed language law as well as linguistic communication difficulties in Switzerland. All agreed of course that English is not applicable as official national language in Switzerland. Rather they proposed that the language knowledge in the national languages has to be deepened.

AZERBAIJAN LIBERAL YOUTH ASSOCIATION
STATEMENT
On March 13, 2008 one more attack made against journalist in Azerbaijan. Mr. Agil Khalil, a journalist of opposition - minded Azadliq (Freedom) newspaper has been brutally beaten and stabbed by unknown persons following the coward attack made against him on February 22, 2008.
Azerbaijan Liberal Youth Association (ALYA) - as an organization supports freedom of the speech expresses its deep concern with continuing facts of brutal violation and aggression against journalist in the country.
We strongly condemn the attempt on life of Mr. Aqil Khalil, the independent journalist and call on law-enforcement bodies to investigate the case and punish peoples that committed this crime.
Azerbaijan Liberal Youth Association (ALYA) also calls on International Community to press on Government to take all the possible measures in order to stop the systematic attacks against freedom of press and to provide safety of mass media representatives.
We are deeply concerned at the increase in attacks and physical violence against journalists by unidentified assailants and call on Government to honour its commitments on freedom of expression and human rights.
Azerbaijan Liberal Youth Association (ALYA) considers that pressure, harassment and a series of violent attacks on journalists as well as the lack of effective, independent investigations into these incidents have had a chilling effect on the freedom of expression in the country.
Azerbaijan Liberal Youth Association (ALYA) once again raises concerns regarding attack against Mr. Aqil Khalil and hopes that authorities concerned will immediately investigate the case and find those who stand behind this vicious attack.
