SADC and the Rule of Law

“The Young Liberals of Southern Africa, and its partner organisations; the Organisation of African Liberal Youth and the International Federation of Liberal Youth; wish to express their concern at the slow pace of development and improvement in the socio-economic status of Southern Africa’s citizenry.

While noting with respect the various initiatives undertaken and underway, we believe that the prioritisation of sound market economic policies, based on the principles of free choice, opportunity and competition; together with the entrenchment of the rule of law, a culture of human rights, mutual respect and cultural tolerance for each and every person; will speed up the economic recovery from the ravages of colonialism; far faster than through any other means.

Further we believe that this cannot happen for as long as education is inaccessible and the freedoms of speech, expression and the media are suppressed. Challenges imposed by the pandemics of Malaria and HIV/AIDS can and will be overcome, but only if our social development imperatives are achieved for the benefit of all people. Together, we can and will build a better life for all.

We commit ourselves to working with the SADC to achieve the objective of eradicating poverty at both a policy and grassroots level; and call on all Young Southern Africans, all over the world; to play their part in this our most urgent endeavour.”

2nd November 2007, Young Liberals of Southern Africa

The Tribunal ruled that government should ensure that no action is taken, pursuant to Amendment 17, directly or indirectly to evict from or interfere with ccnp dumps the farmers. The government was ordered to compensate three farmers who were evicted from their properties."By unanimity, the Respondent is directed to pay fair compensation, on or before June 30 2009, to the three applicants, namely, Christopher Mellish Jarret, Tengwe Estates (cisco certification. and France Farm (Pvt) Ltd," Mondlane said.Zimbabwe, the tribunal ruled, could not use domestic laws like Amendment 17 to justify actions that were not in line with the terms of the Sadc Treaty and conventional international cissp certification law.Josephat Tshuma of the Law Society of Zimbabwe said the judgement of the tribunal was binding. He said although Sadc had no mechanism to enforce it legally, the ruling was still enforceable politically db2 certification dumps as failure to abide by it would repel investmentBut an adamant Lands and Land Reform Minister, Didymus Mutasa on Friday said the government would not recognise the Sadc ruling."We do not observe that," he said. "It has no legal basis. We are not governed and directed by a tribunal. It has absolutely no jurisdiction, we are not going to observe that," Mutasa said.

a Coalition of the Willing (USA+UK+Co) force would not have much credibility with the Palestinians (and their allies); while a NATO force would also not have much credibility with the Palestinians. However a EU force would exclude the USA, but include the new EU Members (source of cheap military labour from ex Warsaw Pact Countries), and patch up the differences between USA/UK and FRA/GRM over the whole Middle East invasion campaign, by allowing FRA/GRM to get a slice of the post-war pie.
