Call for Core Committee for Revising Manifesto

FRANCAIS - ESPANOL

At the most recent General Assembly a motion has been overwhelmingly adopted that calls for the rewriting of the IFLRY manifesto. In line with this motion a process has been started to have a renewed manifesto ready by the General Assembly at the end of 2009. The current manifesto can be accessed here .

A Core Committee with representatives of the Member Organizations shall be installed to coordinate the work and ensure transparency and involvement of the MOs throughout the process. Member Organizations shall be regularly involved in the various stages of the drafting process.

Concretely, the Core Committee shall be responsible for:

* Drafting a proposal of a new Manifesto at the General Assembly at the end of 2009;
* Involving Member Organizations in the drafting process through regular consultations;
* Inclusion of experts in the discussion on various themes.

An interactive website shall provide the platform for both the work of the Core Committee as well as the participation of the MOs. Physical ('offline') meetings are currently not foreseen as part of the Core Committee's responsibilities. A first full draft shall be presented at the Executive Committee in Lebanon in July 2009.

Nominations for the Core Committee are now open and a nomination form can be found here. Nominations should be submitted by an official representative of an IFLRY member organization no later than the 21st of February and should be sent to manifesto@iflry.org . The composition shall be decided upon by the Bureau and shall be announced by the 28th of February. In line with the adopted motion, the number of members of the committee shall be limited to a maximum of ten.
