IFLRY, the International Federation of Liberal Youth, is an international political umbrella organization promoting cooperation among youth and student organizations to spread liberal values. The federation consists of member organizations from around the world. We are seeking a new Executive Director.

Terms of Engagement

As the Executive Director, you will work full-time. You may be required to work weekends and evenings when necessary, before statutory events, seminars, or grant application deadlines. International travel is an integral part of the role.

What We're Looking For

  • Understanding of and respect for liberal values, as a foundation for the Federation's work
  • Ability to manage events and projects, including fundraising, planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting
  • Ability to manage financial plans, oversee budgetary activities, and handle financial reporting, accounting, and auditing processes
  • Ability to manage staff and an office, and to create a healthy and motivating work environment
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain an international stakeholder network
  • Fluency in English

Additional Assets

  • Proficiency in other IFLRY languages, mainly French and Spanish
  • Experience in international youth work or liberal youth organizations
  • Experience with grants, particularly with the Council of Europe or European institutions
  • Understanding of the work and structure of political organizations
  • Experience in non-formal eduction

Description of Duties

As the head of our Office, you will support the Bureau and the federation their activities. Your responsibilities will include:

Work with the Bureau

  • Continuously update the Bureau on the work of the Office, including project and donor developments, staff changes, and any other relevant information
  • Work with the Bureau to develop and implement the strategic direction and annual work programme for IFLRY

Operational responsibility

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring all projects' initiation, implementation, finalization, and evaluation

Office management

  • Ensure a healthy work environment for staff
  • Allocate tasks and projects and follow up on the work with staff
  • Registration and banking operations

Financial management

  • Develop the annual financial plan and ensure its implementation
  • Oversee budgetary activities and ensure adequate controls are in place
  • Develop and maintain diverse funding, including final financial reporting
  • Oversee accounting and bookkeeping
  • Ensure necessary internal and external audits take place according to stated deadlines

Communication

  • Represent IFLRY externally at appropriate events and meetings
  • Maintain contact with IFLRY's donors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders
